The Solstice Necklace

My longing for summer and color during a typical northwest Ohio winter was the inspiration for this work.  I consider cold weather very challenging and my longing for better days encouraged me to create something that could take me there at will.  Thus,

the necklace will bring people a bit of summer at any time of the year.

I handmade this necklace from stamped metal

shapes that were layered, bent, painted and glued to create unique forms. I further intricately layered

them with seed beads, paints and Swarovski crystals to create the final shapes.  The necklace is exceptionally delicate, so please handle with care.
