Trees is a portfolio that is part of a series inspired by my poetry.

When I Was Little I Wanted to Be a Tree

When I was little I told my mom

I wanted to be a tree.

“But why?”, she said.

Because a tree is tall

and strong

and everyone thinks she is pretty.

And a tree can dance in the wind all day

and talk to the birds

and nobody will laugh at her.

And a tree can eat and get fat and it is good

and make houses for kids

who love to climb on her.

A tree doesn’t have to go to school.

“But you will be cold

And have to stand in the rain

And snow,” she said.

Oh, I had not thought about that.

So I did.

And I still wanted to be a tree.
