Our Picnics is a portfolio that is part of a series inspired by my poetry.
Our Picnics
(to my daughter Margaret)
We put our dresses on
and brought our baguettes and brie
to go on our French picnics,
after we saw Monet.
Same how Gammy used do at Longwood
with me and your three aunts,
but we didn’t wear dresses,
or visit Monet.
And like with my Nana, your Margaret
as she came to me in dreams,
we went on picnics whenever I needed her,
but she visits no more
I don’t know where Nana is now,
your aunts have gone their own ways
and Gammy is starting to fade.
Yet we, you and me,
may picnic forever more.
